What do lawful protests look like? No permit is required.
There are two laws under Montana code that are used to address protests in Ravalli: Disorderly Conduct and Failure of Disorderly Persons to Disperse.
Permits
No city in Ravalli county requires a permit to protest.
Unlawful Assembly
The state of Montana manages protests through their code on disorderly conduct.
Fines and jail time can apply if convicted of disorderly conduct. See subsections 2-4 for details.
Failure to Disperse State Code
Protests are also managed through Montana’s code on Failure of Disorderly Persons to Disperse.
